Guest Profile:
TESLIM SHITTA-BEY is the Managing Editor, Proshare Nigeria Limited. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Statistics (University of Benin) and a post graduate certificate in Financial Journalism. He has, in the last three decades, accumulated a rich and varied experience as stock market/Investment analyst, Commercial and Investment banker and as a financial journalist. He has had over 20 years of experience in Investment Banking.
He started his Investment Banking career twenty four years ago at Capital Bancorp Limited, where for several years he headed the Investment bank's Corporate Finance and Research Group (where he was institutional lead in the First Lagos State Government N50 billion Revenue Bond and the equity flotation of defunct African Petroleum Plc under a Federal Government privatization programme). As part of his responsibilities at Capital Bancorp Limited, he also took direct charge of Capital Market research, Mergers and Acquisition mandates, debt origination assignments and government privatization programmes.
In 1999/2000, Shitta-Bey left Capital Bancorp after five years to become head of the Corporate Finance Group of City Express Bank Plc where he was responsible for Fixed Income debt origination (Ekiti State Government N4billion Revenue Bond) and other sundry equity and debt origination mandates. He was also responsible for Project Finance and Project Management. This placed him in a privileged position to oversee and complete a wide variety of financing mandates including leasing to the transport sector.
In 2005, Shitta-Bey joined Capital Express Securities Limited as Chief Operating Officer, and continued a variety of capital market mandates including the Private Placement and eventual listing of MTS First wireless, after which he decided, in 2008, to put full time effort in managing a private financial consultancy partnership, Grant Alsthom Consulting Limited.
Shitta-Bey is an avid Financial Modeler and is a regular collaborator with the global financial modeling community. Between 2013 and 2018 he was Managing Director of Hallmark Newspapers publishers of weekly tabloid, Business Hallmark Newspaper. However, since December, 2018, he joined Proshare Nigeria as its inaugural Managing Editor.
