Market Commentary

In spite of a drop in system liquidity (?229 billion) observed d/d, the Interbank Call rate declined 172bps to 4.14%.

While buying persisted at the short-end, there was more selling observed in the mid-to-long end of T-bills space, as average T-bills yields advanced 9bps. In contrast market participation remained relatively quiet, with demand observed for mid-to-long dated bonds; average yields in the space declined by 8bps.

Market Outlook

Rates this week hovered and closed around their opening levels, serving as an indication of mixed sentiment in the market. For the next session, we expect investor sentiment to remain relatively positive with mixed level of activity in both the T-bills and bond space.
