 From the Editor’s Desk

According to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s economic bulletin the Company Income Taxes at the end of Q4 2017 stood at N295.6 billion, reflective of a 45.24% dip when compared to the previous quarter.  An aggregate company income tax for the entire 2017 was N1.206 trillion, implying a 22.1% increase in revenue compared to the previous year.

The accretion in company income taxes is a product of both governments’ effort to widen the tax base and improve compliance, as well as the improvement in production levels and fizzling out of earlier headwind’s which also bolstered the revenue of firms.
