Recently, the Central bank of Nigeria published the composite production manufacturing index (PMI) for the month of November 2017.   The November PMI expanded to 55.9 which is stronger than the index recorded in the previous month which stood at 55.o. Recent event suggests that the composite PMI has expanded for 8 months consecutively in a row, while the year on year average of composite PMI stands at 51.9.

Similarly, new orders for the month of November maintained an upward trajectory as it expanded to 54.3. Such expansion suggests buffering in new order when compared to the month of October 2017 which was 52.8. Moreover, new orders on a year on year basis have expanded marginally to 50.5. In addition, Employment PMI figures for the month of November maintained an expansion at 53.7, making it the highest in the year so far. However earlier weakness put the average employment PMI on a year on year basis at 49.2.
