From the Editor’s Desk
Certainly in the week ahead the National Bureau of Statistics will make available inflation figures for the month of April. Headline inflation has been on the downward trend for two months in a row, due to both base effects and persistent easing in core inflation. It is expected that inflation will stick to the prevailing downward path in the month of April, as both weaning base effect and shrinking core inflation still remain. Eventually, this will allow more transitory cost push factors to shed off. We are convinced that the trio of existing output gap, slow nominal wage growth and recent Naira appreciation do pose down side risk to inflation.
