In our review
of key developments that occurred in the MSME space for the week September 2nd
to September 7th, 2019 The African Development Bank, AfDB last week
rolled out $251m as part of the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa
(AFAWA) initiative to support women entrepreneurs in Africa.
This is an
assistance package from the G-7 leaders to boost gender inclusion in Africa
through entrepreneurship.
It is designed
to improve the accessibility of funds to teeming female entrepreneurs across
Africa, to empower them to contribute to their respective economies.
Other key
developments that occurred in the week in review, include;
Access Bank Partners LSETF On N10bn Women Entrepreneurship Initiative
Access Bank of
Nigeria last week partnered the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, LSETF with
loan support to the tune of N10bn that will focus on the women owned business,
operating from 1-5 years.
The GMD/CEO of
Access Bank Mr Herbert .O. Wigwe in his remarks asserted that the bank was fully committed to bridging the
existing gap and provide women with the support they need to successfully
implement their business ideas.
CAC Company Registration Portal Resumes Operations For MSMEs, Others
The Corporate
Affairs Commission, CAC announced the resumption of its Company Registration
Portal to serve Micro Small and Medium Enterprises and the entire public.
It regretted
the inconveniences the disruption of the service caused which was due to an
upgrade carried out by the company.
Nassarawa State Set to Access CBN 1.5bn Fund to Support Agric Entrepreneurs
The Governor
of Nassarawa state last week revealed that plans have been finalised to access
about N1.5bn Central Bank of Nigeria funds, to support young Agric
entrepreneurs in the state.
This will help
to boost Agri-business and the entire value chain in the state and also create
job opportunities for young people in the state.
