Women in
Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) held its 19th Annual &
first virtual Conference on Friday, November 6, 2020. This annual conference
held every November was this year specifically themed "The Shift:
Recalibrate", to highlight the impact of the Covid-19 disruption that
characterized the year 2020. The deliberations were tailored to proffer
practical solutions that have become necessary in the postpandemic reality.
The
conference also encouraged women to rebuild, recalibrate and embrace the shift.
Chairperson, Executive Council, WIMBIZ, Ngover Ihyembe-Nwankwo in her Welcome
Address acknowledged the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on WIMBIZ, shared
strategies that were deployed to cushion its effect as well as proactive
measures taken as an organization to flatten the curve of the pandemic.
In addition,
she stressed emphatically the goal of this year's conference. She stated "our
goal for the Conference was to motivate, strengthen, and empower our delegates
with knowledge and tools to embrace the post pandemic realities and come
through stronger." Delivering the Executive Director's Report, Hansatu
Adegbite, Executive Director, WIMBIZ noted some of the milestones the
organization has recorded in 2020 including the addition of 119 new Associates,
the induction of pioneer mentees of the WIMBIZ Women on Boards (WIMBOARD)
Mentoring Program, the organization's pivot from hosting physical programs to
online programs - its reception and feedback from the WIMBIZ Community.
The 19th
Annual Conference convened a diverse panel of speakers who facilitated robust
discussions on topics such as "Leading from the Heart: Creating a Culture of
Empathy & Authenticity"; "Disruptive Innovation: Reposition for
Success"; "Woman! You Are Your Brand"; "Secure Your Seat; Amplify Our
Voice"; "Hard Reset: Survive and Thrive"; "The Unspoken Trauma" and
"Collaboration: Exploring Audacious Synergies". The discussions provided
delegates with life-enhancing and practical knowledge to make informed
decisions as well as embrace change and thrive. Giving the closing remarks and
vote of thanks to sponsors, media partners and guests present at the event, the
Chairman, Board of Trustees, WIMBIZ, Ifeyinwa Ighodalo emphasized the WIMBIZ
mission to inspire and empower women to attain leadership positions in
business, management & public service and urged women to put to good use,
insights that have been gained at the conference.
