It was an interesting session at the just concluded Financial Literacy
2022 maiden conference organized by the International Corporation for
Development (ICD) in collaboration with Halfinance Business Consult.
With the theme "Be Money Smart" the final day of the event which was
Saturday, January 15, 2022 featured a hackathon that provided an opportunity
for emerging digital platforms to showcase their products before a panel of
experts.
Mr. Habib Gbenle The Co-Founder/Partner Halfinance Business Consult in
his remarks enjoined the participants to practicalize all the things they
learnt throughout the 5-day conference.
He described the Hackathon as an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to
pitch sellable ideas to investors, that can help in scaling financial services
that cover investments, savings and wealth creation.
Speaking on the activities of Halfinance Limited, he said it is focused
on demystifying Islamic finance in a way that people at the grassroots can
understand.
The Founder, Smart Halal Investor Club advised the entrepreneurs who
pitched their ideas to always focus on solving problems, creating value, think
sustainability, explore storytelling in their presentations and focus on a
niche that can create economic opportunities.
About 11 teams participated in the FINLIT 2022 hackathon and their focus
was digital financial services and improving financial inclusion in the
country.
Some of the teams that pitched their ideas during the hackathon include;
Kolo, Thrive Up, SmartVest, Phoenix, Better Money, Better Me and Diamond.
Mr. Habib Gbenle at the end of the event informed all the participating
teams that the winners will be announced in February, 2022.
The Star prize winner will receive N500,000 while the first runner and
second runner up will go home with N300,000 and N200,ooo respectively.
