Drugs like almost all other commodities entranced through black money activities do have some form pet name.  Moreover, most of these commodities are common to the lower end of the pyramid, thus they end up having a street name or blue collar name which is more in tune with the environment.  

More importantly is that such drugs have both short term and long term effect on the body which eventually ends up into terminal diseases that can are hard to manage given both the dilapidated health sector and weak earnings of prospective patients.

Narcotics seized from 2012 -2016: Understanding the supply side of drugs 

Over the last four years, especially from 2012-2016 the total amount of Narcotics seized stands at 1,658, 603 kg. Although the narcotic’s seized fell drastically from 825,519kg   in 2015 to 252,022kg in 2016.

Narcotics sized across the states

•  Ondo state alone accounts for 33.36% of narcotic’s seized from 2012 to 2016, which is 553,382 kg

• Edo state accounts for 32.1% of the total amount narcotics sized over the period under review, which  532,981 kg 

•  Thus Ondo and Edo states accounted for 65% of the Narcotics  seized over the period making it   1,086,364 kg 

• Over the years, the   states mentioned have dictated the   supply of narcotics.

• Their humid soil support both the planting and growth, especially Marijuana

•  22 states including the FCT have continue to experience an  upswing in Narcotics

• However ,the narcotic spike in places like Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi Taraba, Adamawa and Bornu is worrisome.

• For instance in 2016 alone, narcotics sized in Kano and Kaduna stood at 39, 557kg and 17,0233kg respectively

• While Lagos state accounted for 33, 125kg  over the period

•  While Rivers accounted for just  for  3,393kg over those particular period 

•  In more recent times, the astronomical up-shoot in  the FCT, has grown from 5, o943 kg to  16,689 kg

• The South  east region has a low  narcotic rate, with  the region accounting for 13,842kg in narcotics   

• Gombe  state has the lowest seizure with only 1,555.65 kg
