#Russia2018: France Win Second World Cup, with $38m FIFA Prize Money

France today clinched the 2018 Russia World Cup trophy today after defeating 4-2 in a competitive match that got massive global attention. 

It all started with an own goal from Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic that gave the French the lead in the first half, before an equalizer from Ivan Perisic to level the game 1-1. 

Antoine Greizmann converted a Video Assistant Referee penalty decision after Perisic was shown to have handled the ball in the Croatian box, to regain the lead for the Le Blues. 

In second half two spectacular goals from midfielder Paul Pogba and  teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe gave France a comfortable 4-1 lead before Mario Mandzukic capitalized on a goalkeeping error from French captain  Hugo Lloris to cut the goals deficit to 4-2. 

The game ended after five minutes were added to the final game before the whistle that heralded the French victory. 

Prior to the final match notable American music star Will Smith joined other celebrities to sing the Russia 2018 World Cup theme song “LiveItUp” at the Luzhniki Stadium. 

It was a final match that featured major global leaders who were hosted by Russian President Mr Vladimir Putin and the Football Governing body FIFA President Mr Gianni Infantino. 

French President Mr Emmanuel Macron was full of excitement as his country won the trophy, while his Croatian counterpart Mrs Kolinda Kitarovic, as full of smiles encouraging her players who gave a good account of themselves. 

Luka Modric the Croatian captain bagged the Most Valauble Player award in the tournament, while Kylian Mbappe was awarded the young player of the tournament. 

Harry Kane the captain of England got the golden boot with 6 goals and Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois was the golden glove winner. 

FIFA President Gianni Infantino was full of praises to President Putin and Russians for hosting one of the best world cup tournaments ever in history.
