2018 Lagos Tanker Explosion: Nine Bodies Recovered, Fifty-four Burnt Vehicles Evacuated -LASEMA

Further updates on the tanker explosion that occurred on Thursday June 28, 2018 along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway adjacent to Otedola Estate, close to Ojodu Berger axis revealed that 54 vehicles were burnt beyond recognition, while 9 bodies have been recovered. 

The General Manager Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Mr Tiamiyu Adesina shared this in an interview with journalists at the scene of the explosion. 

He said the LASEMA response unit worked tirelessly all through the night to ensure the proper evacuation of the burnt vehicles, and recovery of dead bodies from the scene. 

Mr Adesina described the coordinated disaster management and response measures from LASEMA and all other agencies involved namely; The Federal Road Safety Commission, the Nigerian Police, the Military amongst others as remarkable. 

The road leading from toll gate through Berger along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway was reopened by 9.15am after it was closed yesterday , to clean up the explosion scene. 

The LASEMA boss speaking further on investigations into the matter, said anyone found culpable will be made to face the law.
