Nigeria Fintech Week: SEC Nigeria To Launch Fintech Roadmap

Apex regulator of the Nigerian financial and capital market, the Securities and Exchange Commission will formally launch its Fintech Roadmap this week. 

The launch is scheduled to hold during the Fintech Week from October 28th to November 1st, 2019. 

The Chief Operating Officer of the Fintech Association of Nigeria, Dr. Babatunde Obrimah disclosed this at the pre-event interview for the event. 

Dr Obrimah said the Fintech Roadmap launch will mark a significant step by the regulator to guide the industry, as it drives innovation to deepen the financial services industry and capital market in the country. 

The Fintech Roadmap Committee was set up by Acting Director-General Mary Uduk and is Chaired by Mr Adeolu Bajomo, ED, Tech Operations, Access Bank and Vice-President of the Fintech Association of Nigeria. 

The committee has worked assiduously on creating the roadmap framework which will be formally launched by SEC Nigeria at the event. 

The COO of Fintech Nigeria said the 2018 edition of the Fintech week attracted $2m funding from the Enhancing Financial and Innovation Access, EFINA for six(6) start-ups in the country. 

He stressed that the Fintech Association of Nigeria has continued to leverage its platform to sustain its  mandate  of connecting, accelerating and advocating for the development and growth of the Fintech industry in Nigeria. 

Apart from the launch of the SEC Nigeria Fintech roadmap launch, the event will feature a master-class for  regulators like the National Insurance Commission, NAICOM, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, the National Finance Intelligence Unit, NFIU amongst others.
