The long awaited Africa Fintech Festival is here at last! On behalf of the organizing partners, I welcome you to the 3rd National Fintech Conference in Nigeria, hosted this time as the maiden Africa Fintech Festival (AFF).

The theme for this festival "Fintech - Beyond the Hype" was chosen deliberately to pay special attention to ongoing industry adoption, application and real world user cases and experiences of fintech. The fintech revolution has really changed the game positively in all spheres of life and will continue to do so in very profound ways.

The AFF promises a truly festival feel with two days of exciting conference sessions and three days of related partner events, social and networking activities running from 3rd December through 7th December 2018. The AFF has received numerous national and global attention to include the endorsements of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Africa Development Bank (ADB), the African Import and Export Bank, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, UK Department for International Development (DFID), among others.

A most significant part of the Festival is the unveiling of the Africa Fintech Network (AFN) an initiative that was conceived in January 2018. Representatives from about 20 African countries are expected to participate in the inauguration of the AFN and the announcement of AFN collaborations with other regional fintech ecosystems in particular the ASEAN Fintech Network and the Middle East North Africa (MENA) Fintech Association. The AFN is a conglomeration of National Fintech Associations in African countries fostering collaboration to create a "one-market Fintech" platform in Africa.

We have lined up a series of keynote addresses, intensive pragmatic panel sessions and roundtables to cover a wide variety of contemporary topics running parallel in two hall locations, all of which aim to address the future of Fintech in the African context.

The Two day main conference would showcase the numerous indigenous African creativity and innovation aimed at addressing peculiar African challenges, with a global perspective from over 40 speakers, about 800 attendees and exhibitors from over 25 countries across the globe. We are following up on the issues discussed and outcomes of our last two conferences and continue the dialogue among African fintech leaders and global partners, towards advancing the great innovative spirit of Africans partnering and collaborating with other parts of the world.

In conclusion, let me thank all our organizing partners, financial partners, media partners, service providers and all participants and contributors for your hard work and dedication in making this Festival possible.

Of special mention are the financial partners/sponsors who provided the needed funds not only to get this event planned and executed, but also ensured that over 90% (ninety percent) of the attendees are participating without any registration fees paid.

Thank you Ecobank, Qatar Development Bank (QDB) and loads of thanks to- Access Bank, Bank of Industry (B01), Afreximbank, Fidelity Bank, Diamond Bank, EFInA, Courteville, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), Soft Alliance, Inlaks, Visa, Oracle, Systemspecs, and Alphabeta.

I trust we will have a productive and exciting five days of activities to learn, network, socialize and make Fintech Africa  Work Together.
