One of the largest Youth Entrepreneurship networks in Africa, the Africa Youth Entrepreneurship Organisation with about 12.6ml members is set to host its 2017 “Networking With The Giants Conference” focusing on the theme “Solution to Poverty in Africa”, on Thursday November 30th at Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
This is in partnership with Fidelity Bank Plc Nigeria’s leading SME focused banking group, which is designed to scale up entrepreneurship in the country and continent.
As part of the preparations for the forthcoming event, a press conference was organized at the Fidelity Bank Head Office in Lagos, principal officers of the bank and organization in attendance.
The President of the AYE Organisation Mr Summy Smart Francis said since inception it has been focused on entrepreneurship advocacy in Africa, pushing for the economic empowerment of young, talented and enterprising Africans.
According to him “The AYE Organisation is a vision borne out of the frustration faced by entrepreneurs in the continent”, which is the driver for the organisations effort in exploring ways of promoting SMEs.
Sunny Smart Francis was happy to collaborate with Fidelity Bank Plc, who he described as a pragmatic SME-focused bank that has been proactive and deliberate in its support to SME development in Nigeria. He said “We checked through banks in the country with a pro-SME mandate, Fidelity bank passed the test, and have kept their word in SME financing”.
The MD/CEO of Fidelity Bank Nigeria Mr Nnamdi Okonkwo in his remarks shared that SME banking was a passion for Fidelity and this spans through skills development across the country. Mr Okonkwo was happy that the bank was partnering with AYE Organisation which has a pedigree in youth empowerment.
Speaking further on the 2017 Networking With the Giants Conference, Okonkwo identified access to credit and capacity building as the opportunities available to the over 500 entrepreneurs who will be attending.
The relationship between Fidelity Bank and AYE Organisation has been in existence since 2015, focused on impacting young people through entrepreneurship. It has witnessed effective collaborations for other initiatives and programmes like the A.Y.E Reality TV show, one of the most viewed entrepreneurship shows in the continent.
The event will attract notable business and political leaders across the globe and Africa, who will meet with the AYE Organisation entrepreneurs in an open and no holds barred interactive forum.
Vice-President Prof Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and billionaire Mrs Folorunso Alakija are among the key dignitaries expected to grace the event. Comperes for the event will be Nigerian A-list celebrities Alibaba Akpobome (Ace Comedian) and Kate Kenshaw (Ace Nigerian Actress).
AYE Organisation has 0ver 12 million members and operates in 19 countries with initiatives like economic empowerment, Networking with the Giants and the A.Y.E Reality TV show as part all geared towards boosting entrepreneurship in Africa.
