Osinbajo inaugurates Nigeria's Industrial Policy and Competitiveness Council

Acting President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), yesterday inaugurated the Nigerian Industrial Policy and Competitiveness Council at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.

In his message at the event, he harped on the need for members of the council to give priority and dedication to the repositioning of Nigeria’s economy, as a viable and competitive economy in the globe.

The council has the Acting President as the Chairman with members cutting across the public and private sector space in the country.

From the public sector Dr.Okechukwu Enelamah, Minister for Industries, Trade and Investments serves as the Vice-Chairman, while the Minister of State for Industries, Trade and Investments Mrs Aisha Abubakar is the alternate Vice-Chairman.

The private sector has Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON the President Dangote Industries Ltd as Vice-Chairman while Mr Atedo Peterside  Chairman ANAP Business Jets enterprises is the alternate Vice-Chairman.

Public sector members of the council include; Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN Minister for Works, Power & Housing, Mrs Kemi Adeosun Minister of Finance, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma Minister for Budget & National Planning, Dr Kayode Fayemi Minister for Solid Minerals, Dr Emmanuel Kachikwu Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister for Science & Technology and Dr Adeyemi Dipeolu, Chief Economic Adviser to the President.

Heads of Key Parastatals and Agencies in the council are Mr Godwin Emefiele Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr Yemi Kale Statistician-General of the Federation, Mr Olukayode Pitan MD, Bank of Industry, Mr Segun Awolowo, CEO Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Ms Yewande Sadiku, Executive Secretary Nigeria Investment Promotion Council and Amb. Chiedu Osakwe Trade Adviser/Chief Negotiator.

Representing the private sector are businessmen and industrialists Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President Dangote Industries Ltd (Vice-Chairman, Private sector), Mr Atedo Peterside (Alternate Vice-Chairman, Private Sector), Mr Frank Jacobs (President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria), Chief Kola Jamodu (Chairman, Nigerian Breweries) and 
Mr. John Coumantarous, Chairman, Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc.

Other members in the council are Mrs. Stella Okoli, CEO, Emzor Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Mukul Mathur, Country Head, Olam,
