The FGN plans to shut its land borders with neighboring countries to stop rice smuggling into Nigeria. The country had boasted of self-sufficiency in rice by November this year.
The growing market for smuggled rice in Nigeria suggests that there is an aggregate demand gap and that the price of rice is likely to surge again in the near future.
