Okro output in Nigeria is estimated at 1.98mn tonnes, 22.25% of global output. However, production of the commodity can increase to at least 5mn tonnes annually.
The commodity, which is merely restricted to subsistence consumption, has the potential to earn the government significant export revenue. This would improve the export value of agricultural goods in Nigeria which declined by 47.2% in Q3’18.
The slides below address these and other issues in the domestic and global commodities market.
