The House of Representatives during plenary today urged the Central Bank of Nigeria to suspend its recent directive to banks on cashless policy, which seeks to have individuals and corporate organizations charged for deposits and withdrawals respectively.
The House further stated that the suspension is until appropriate and comprehensive consultation is made and the outcome of the interface of the House on the matter is concluded.
This directive was issued via a series of tweets posted on the official twitter account of the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
It will be recalled that the Central Bank of Nigeria had on Tuesday 17th September 2019 issued a circular stating that the new charges will take effect from Wednesday 18th September 2019.
