CBN Obtains Freezing Orders on Individuals and Companies from FHC Abuja

The Central Bank of Nigeria has obtained about five (5) different freezing orders on various individuals and companies from the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division.

 

In the freezing orders published on CBN's website and sighted by Proshare Research, the regulator is seeking a mandatory order of the Honourable Court empowering or granting it, the plaintiff/applicant, to direct the Head Office of the various banks involved to freeze forthwith all transactions on the listed bank accounts of the defendants/respondents for a period of 180 days pending the outcome of an investigation and inquiry being conducted by the CBN.

 

The banks in which these accounts are domiciled are:

  4. First Bank of Nigeria Ltd
  5. First City Monument Bank Ltd
  6. GTBank Plc
  7. Heritage Bank
  8. Keystone Bank Ltd
  9. Polaris Bank Ltd
  10. Providus Bank
  11. Stanbic IBTC Bank
  12. Standard Chartered Bank Ltd
  13. Sterling Bank Plc
  14. UBA Plc
  15. Union Bank Plc
  16. Wema Bank Plc
  17. Zenith Bank Plc
