Senator
Ibikunle Amosun (Senate Committee Chairman on Capital Markets), Alhaji Lamido
Yuguda (Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission), Mr. Oscar
Onyema (CEO of Nigeria Stock Exchange), and Ms Arunma Oteh (Former
Director-General of Securities and Exchange Commission) lauded Mr. Seye
Adetunmbi (Chief Responsibility Officer of Value Investing Ltd) on the launch
of the book "Financial Intermediation Operations: A Guidebook for Financial
Market Operators and Practitioners".
At
a virtual book launch which held on July 21, 2020 via the Zoom Video
Conferencing Platform; and was moderated by Mr. Olufemi Awoyemi,
Chairman/Founder of Proshare Nigeria, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who unveiled the
book commended Mr. Adetunmbi for providing a roadmap to the growth of the
Nigerian Capital Market.
The
Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Alhaji Lamido
Yuguda in his remarks described the book as a pathway to entrenching
professionalism in the market. He believes Mr. Seye Adetunmbi's book should
challenge other professionals to write about key developments in the capital
market.
According
to him, the Securities and Exchange Commission has been working assiduously to
deepen the capital market and regain investor confidence post 2008 crisis
period.
Giving
a review of the book, Mr Bola Ajomale the CEO of NASD Plc described it as an
opportunity to provide a deep dive into the development of the Nigerian Capital
Market, the possibilities and expectations for its growth. Mr. Ajomale
further commended the tenacity in bringing together an excellent book which
captures the efforts of leaders who made the market thrive over the years. He
also noted that the book also provided insights on the evolution and growth of
the pension industry in Nigeria and the impact of the 2008 global financial and
market crisis on the nation's GDP. The NASD Plc boss particularly singled out
the quotes from global investor and billionaire Warren Buffet, captured in the
book as part of the interesting features for those that will read it.
In
her remarks, Ms Arunma Oteh asserted that the book was apt and timely for the
capital market, providing insight and enlightenment to domestic and
international investors. She described Mr. Seye Adetunmbi as a role model and
veteran in the market and a seasoned speaker on economic developments in the
country.
The
Chairman of the Book Launch, Dr Alimi Abdulrazaq (Chairman of Forte Upstream)
commended Mr. Adetunmbi for a remarkable and enlightening book, establishing
lessons and pathways to a robust capital market ecosystem in Nigeria.
Other
Dignitaries and capital market leaders who graced the occasion and lauded Mr.
Seye Adetunmbi include; Chief Dele Fajemirokun (Distinguished Entrepreneur and
Chief Presenter), Mr Atedo Peterside (Chairman, ANAP), Dr. U.J Itsueli
(Chairman, Dubril Oil), Mr. Gboyega Alabi (Deputy Governor, Osun State), Mr.
Kayode Alabi (Deputy Governor, Kwara-State), Ms Yewande Sadiku (DG, Nigerian
Investment Promotion Commission).
Speaking
on the book launch, Mr. Seye Adetunmbi who is also the Convener of the Capital
Market Roundtable, acknowledged the array of capital market leaders, business
leaders and heads of regulatory agencies that attended the book launch.
He
said the driving force for the book was to provide information which is key to
the growth of the capital market.
