The Convention on Business Integrity "CBi" (the Private Sector facing arm of The Integrity Organisation) has announced a Partnership with Proshare Nigeria Limited, a Nigerian financial information hub on the Business Action Against Corruption (BAAC) Nigeria Project. The BAAC project seeks to use collective social advocacy action to improve corporate governance and reduce corruption in the Nigerian business environment.
The BAAC initiative will help to provide the tools and templates needed for businesses to set up their internal policies and procedures to meet COSO 2013 global standards; the initiative will help establishments create and implement ethics, governance and corruption-risk frameworks critical to businesses seeking certifications and seeking to raise investment capital.
About the Partnership
Understanding the importance of this project and the impact it has had and will continue to have in shaping perception in Nigeria and interactions with regulators; this partnership for Proshare is a declaration to participate in the business-led collective action against corruption and a commitment to support the initiatives of the project through its research resources, network and platforms; while in turn Proshare benefits from the numerous advantages of the project, including, but not limited to, the continuous development of corporate governance standards; formulation and execution of corruption risk procedures; capacity building and ease of regulatory conversations.
According to the CEO of CBi, Mr Soji Apampa, "BAAC through Regulatory Conversations has helped to push for a clear philosophy of regulation to be established in Nigeria; and assist companies with corporate risk by providing a platform for its assessment including corruption-risk. BAAC further achieves its aims by working with industry at strengthening self-regulation of business, its compliance with government regulation, stakeholder activism and a public vigilance over the arrangement. With this partnership we hope to leverage on Proshare's expertise and experience to position BAAC as the "go-to-platform" on corporate governance and business-led anti-corruption matters."
Supporting this premise, the Chairman of Proshare, Mr. Olufemi Awoyemi affirmed that "doing business with ease is largely dependent on having a friendly regulatory environment which supports the convenience of execution of effective corporate governance standards by galvanizing the adoption of a corruption-risk framework that is critical to achieving the set goals of improved corporate values."
At Proshare, we will continue to attach great importance to ethical business practices, societal and environmental issues.

About BAAC, CBi and Proshare
Business Action Against Corruption (BAAC) is a collective action platform which uses member thematic groups to identify key problems and pain points of members which the secretariat then sets out to address. Our focus is on improving corporate governance and reducing corruption in the Nigerian business environment.
We provide the tools and templates to help businesses set up their internal policies and procedures to COSO 2013 international standards, which are recognised by banks and other financial institutions. This also applies to SMEs wanting to play in the supply chain of larger companies that care about their ethics, governance and corruption risk exposure.
Our international linkages and networks include but not limited to the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) an affiliate of the US Chambers of Commerce and the UK Government's Business Integrity Initiative to harmonize responses to the challenge of corruption in Africa and beyond.
INTEGRITY ORGANIZATION LIMITED GTE. is an anti-corruption, research and advocacy organization concerned with issues of accountability and transparency in public and business life. INTEGRITY was founded in 1995 during the Abacha regime as a direct reaction to the corruption and poor governance of Nigeria represented by that era.
THE CONVENTION ON BUSINESS INTEGRITY (CBI), a Company Limited by Guarantee is the private sector facing arm of the INTEGRITY ORGANISATION. CBi was launched in October 1997 and incorporated as a company limited by guarantee in May 2003. The organization was established with the mission of promoting ethical business Practices, transparency and fair competition in the private and public sectors. It builds coalitions and develops sustainable strategies for citizen involvement with government in the both sectors. One of the Organisation's basic strategies involves carrying out value adding independent research, reviews and documentation that provide platforms for public discourse and policy formulation. CBi has grown from being solely a business membership organisation into a hub for the development of effective business solutions and an innovation incubator for entrepreneurial opportunities that are in synergy with our originating vision and ethos.
The CBi Integrity rating is expressed by five integrity stars, each Integrity Star represents a different level of integrity performance. Each Integrity Star stands for an important step for the realization of sound business conduct.
The Convention has continued to gain support and followers in Nigeria and to be recognized globally as innovative and as a positive contribution from Africa to global best practices relating to the promotion of good governance - at the governmental level and vis-a-vis the private sector.
