Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie is pleased to announce its Investigations, Compliance and Ethics (ICE) Academy, which is another event in UUBO’s Learning and Engagement Series.   Themed ‘Best Practices from the Frontline’, the Academy will hold on Thursday, 6th December 2018.

In anticipation of the Event, Yinka Edu, A Partner in the Firm stated that “a strong culture of ethics and compliance is the foundation of a robust risk management program, and we at Udo Udoma and Belo-Osagie are committed to increasing the knowledge pool for corporate entities who wish to remain ahead of the curve in terms of compliance and ethical business practices.”

The 2018 ICE Academy, designed as a highly interactive forum, will be a free-to-attend convening helmed by a carefully selected cohort of regional and international experts in the field of Investigations, Compliance and Ethics.  Featured speakers include Alexander Booth, Associate Managing Director, Business Intelligence and Investigations, Kroll; Tim Newbold, Director, Africa Practice; Adesua Dozie, General Counsel, General Electric; Adedayo Gbadebo, Investigations Lead, Africa, GlaxoSmithKline, and several others.

The Academy will feature a Panel Discussion on the theme, as well as Masterclasses on Governance, Crisis Management, Internal Investigations, Regulatory Investigations, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption.  In keeping with UUBO’s tradition of excellent knowledge delivery, the Academy will provide deep insight and guidance to local and international institutions and investors about the importance of entrenching compliance into business practices, as well as maintaining high ethical standards in the conduct of business.

Commenting on the Event, Richard Harney, the Managing Partner and co-founder of the Kenya office of leading African law firm, Bowmans, had this to say: “Africa has long been viewed as a continent where carrying out business is a challenge, partly due to inefficiency and corruption. In recent years, governments across Africa have introduced more and stronger governance rules for the public and the private sectors. This event is very relevant as it demonstrates how effective internal investigations enhance the continent’s rule of law and consequently increase its attractiveness as an investment destination.”

UUBO’s Learning and Engagement Series was established in line with the firm’s strategic intention to serve as a thought leader in the Nigerian legal sector, and a forerunner in the provision of support to current and potential investors, corporate entities and institutions in the local and regional business space.  The first Academy in the Series, the Private Equity Summit and Deal Academy, held in January 2018 with Dr. Okey Enelamah, Minister of Industry Trade & Investment and Senator Udo Udoma, Minister of Budgeting and National Planning in attendance, alongside several other statesmen and captains of industry.

Udo Udoma and Belo-Osagie draws on almost four decades of practice as a multi-specialist law firm, its extensive network, and the wide-ranging expertise of its dynamic team to deliver relevant, practicable and up-to-date information and advice to attendees of this UUBO Learning & Engagement series event.
