The feeling was that of nostalgia when the President and Chairman
of Governing Council of Alhaji Ahmed Rafiu Mohammed led other council members
of IoD Nigeria to finally hand over the premises at 53 Glover Road, Ikoyi.
The handing over, which was officially done on Thursday 6th
September 2018, with the Managing Directors of Transcorp Corporation Nigeria
Plc, Mr. Adim Jibunoh and Transcorp Hotels Pls, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo,
present, ended the asset swapping process between the two organisations, which
saw Transcorp Hotels also cede the property at Temple Road, Ikoyi to IoD
Nigeria last week.
Council members of IoD Nigeria also present to witness the final
handing over were Past President Chief (Mrs.) Eniola Fadayomi, DF.IoD, First
Vice President Chief Chris Okunowo, F.IoD, Honorary Legal Adviser Alhaji
Tijjani Borodo, F.IoD and the Director General/CEO, Mr. Dele Alimi, M.IoD.
In his remarks at the short ceremony, Alhaji Mohammed said the
Institute has kept to its watchword of Integrity and Enterprise by keeping to
the date promised for the handing over of the property to Transcorp Hotels Plc.
He thanked all the Council members for their support and said he was looking
forward to having an IoD Nigeria Hall in the Transcorp Hotel, when it is
finally built on the land.
In his own remarks, The Managing Director/CEO of Transcorp Hotels
Plc, Mr. Ozigbo thanked the council members of IoD Nigeria for seeing through
the deal and observed that the handing over must have invoked a feeling of
nostalgia.
Mr Ozigbo, to the delight of all, took time out to share a video
on what the property to be sited on the land would look like, when completed.
