The Global Banking Education Standards Board (GBEStB) is delighted to announce the appointment of Alastair Graham as its first Secretary-General.
Up until the end of 2017, Alastair was Managing Director of the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP); a position he held for nearly 10 years. Before that, Alastair was Senior Vice President and Head of Global Training at Moody’s Investors Service and has also worked for several banks throughout his career, which spans over 40 years.
The GBEStB brings together the world’s leading banking institutes to provide internationally agreed ethical and professional standards for high-quality and consistent education of bankers.
It’s first Standard Ethics Education and Training for Professional Bankers became effective from 1st June 2018.
Commenting on his appointment, Alastair Graham, FCIBS said:
“I am really excited with my new challenge where I will support the work of the board and the current 33 national banking institutes to build the world’s first international standards for the professional education and training of bankers”
Dr. Segun Aina, OFR, Chair of the GBEStB added:
“The Board is quite delighted to have Alastair take up this key role as the first Secretary-General of GBEStB. He brings on board a lot of very relevant experiences and unique attributes which are required to take the organization through its next phase of growth and relevance"
Meanwhile, the 4th meeting of the Global Council of the Global Banking Education Standards Board will take place in Mumbai, India on Monday 24th September and expected to be attended by all the thirty three (33) national professional banking organizations as well as potential members. The meeting which will be chaired by Dr Segun Aina, Chairman of the body will hold the day before the 90th anniversary celebrations and International Conference of the India Institute of Banking and Finance fixed for 25th September in Mumbai India.
