The 17th President of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria, Dr. Ije Jidenma, F.IoD, has assured stakeholders that her two-year tenure will prioritize inclusiveness and digital transformation. Dr. Jidenma said during her inauguration held in Lagos, an event that brought together Institute members, guests and other stakeholders.
She said that apart from Inclusion and Digital transformation, other areas that would serve as pillars of her administration include; improving the professionalization of IoD, expanding the frontiers of IoD beyond Lagos and Abuja and completing the IoD Nigeria Headquarters project.
The IoD Nigeria President said she was committed to leading the over 4,000 member Institute to greater heights and repositioning it as a globally recognized institution.
She solicited the support of all the past presidents, the governing council, executive committees and other members in achieving the five pillars.
The keynote speaker at the event, Mr. Asue Ighodalo, Chairman, Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), believed it was time for the country's private sector to influence public policy and national development.
Citing the example of Indonesia, he said the time has come for the private sector to speak with one voice and strategically engage politicians and policymakers in developing and executing pro-business and pro-growth policies.
According to him, Nigeria needs to rethink leadership towards sparking economic growth and productivity.
He tasked the IOD Nigeria with sustaining the mandate for corporate governance in the country, as it remains a vital component for efficient boards that translates to profitable, sustainable, well-managed, socially responsible and innovative economies.
"These times require pragmatic, creative, dynamic and innovative leaders to move the country forward", Ighodalo added.
Alhaji Muhammad K. Ahmad, OON, M.IoD, the event's chairman, congratulated Dr. Ije Jidenma, F.IoD, on her inauguration as the 17th President of the IOD Nigeria.
He charged her to be clear, strategic and pragmatic in her leadership with a roadmap/agenda of her key areas of focus during her two-year tenure.
The event took a hybrid format (Physical and Online) in compliance with the COVID-19 safety protocol of the National Centre for Disease and Control (NCDC) and the Lagos state government.
