#CIBNBFC2018:CIBN signs MOU with Crown Agents on Capacity Building

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria last week signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Crown Agents Limited, to strengthen the institute’s mandate in the area of capacity building for the banking and financial services. 

This was a brief ceremony at the recent 11th Annual banking  and finance conference powered by CIBN in Abuja. 

As part of the agreement the CIBN and Crown Agents will launch an initial pilot masterclass training programme on ‘Governance, Risk and Compliance Masterclass’  with the aim of building skills within financial institutions. 

The masterclass is scheduled for November 26-28, 2018 and is part of the series of activities that are aimed fostering the CIBN objective in the area of quality trainings. 

President and Chairman of Council of the CIBN Dr Uche Messiah Olowu believed the partnership will transform the landscape of training in the Nigerian banking and financial services industry, given the credibility and competence of Crown Agents. 

Speaking on the MOU the Country Director for  Crown Agents Nigeria, Jiru Bako said “We are excited by this latest partnership which allows us to work with reputable government institutions like CIBN as it strives to develop and invest in the work force of one of Nigeria’s most influential sectors”. 

Giving her remarks on the signing the Regional Director, Crown Agents Comfort Sakoma  said “The President and Chairman of the CIBN shared that the pilot masterclass programme is making waves across their network following the announcement. He has reassured me of his commitment to making this a success and we look forward to being a part of the CIBN’s history”. 

The signing ceremony was performed by Dr Uche Olowu, CIBN President, Mr Seye Awojobi, Registrar/CEO CIBN, Comfort Sakoma, Regional Director Crown Agents and Mr Jiru Bako, Country Director, Crown Agents Nigeria. 

As a result of the MOU the ‘Governance, Risk and Compliance’ masterclass will be relaunched as a training course in the CIBN curriculum.
