16th IOD Nigeria Presidential Investiture: Amuka, Mobolurin Others To be Honoured

The Founder of Vanguard Newspaper, Mr. Sam Amuka-Pemu; Elder Stateman and Boardroom Guru, Chief Olu Akinkugbe, Managing Director of Capital Bancorp Plc, Mr. Tola Mobolurin and the Managing Director of Beloxxi Industries Limited, Mr. Obi Ezeude top the list of eminent professionals and business leaders to be honoured at the Investiture ceremony of Chief Chris Olufunmilola Okunowo, F.IoD as the 16th President and Chairman of Council of the Institute of Directors Nigeria, which holds on Thursday 8 August, 2019 at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. 

The event, which will attract the cream of corporate Nigeria has Alayeluwa, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba II, Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland as Special Guest of Honour, while Mr. Bismarck Rewane, Managing Director, Financial Derivatives, will be the Guest Speaker and Chief Olu Akinkugbe, CON as Chairman. 

The Institute’s Investiture ceremony which is held once every two years is to officially inaugurate the new President of the Institute. Apart from the swearing-in of the new President, the Institute also uses the opportunity to discuss issues of topical national importance in the area of Governance, Ethics & Leadership. 

The new IoD Nigeria President, Chief Chris Olufunmilola Okunowo, F.IoD, is a seasoned lawyer with over thirty six years’ experience in both legal practice and the corporate world. He is the Chairman/CEO of Chris-Kenneth Limited, Mastersound Entertainment (Nig.) Limited, Goodwill investment Limited, Energycorp Resources (Nig.) Ltd, amongst others. He was one of the Founders/Promoters of the defunct Midas Merchant Bank Limited, Lagos and City Trust Merchant Bank Limited, a legacy Bank of Union Bank of Nigeria, and he is also the Chairman of GO FORTE Foundation, an NGO for the Restoration of the Environment. 

Chief Chris Olufunmilola Okunowo has served IoD Nigeria in several capacities, which include the First Vice-President of the Institute of Directors & Honorary Legal Adviser these positions he held until recently. 

The Guest Speaker, Mr. Bismarck Rewane graduated from the University of Ibadan with a Bachelors and Honours degree in Economics in 1972. He worked at several blue-chip financial institutions within Nigeria and abroad holding various senior management positions. Between 1981 and 1989, he was with International Merchant Bank Nigeria Limited and held positions as General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Head of Development Finance Manager and Divisional and Credit Manager. He was also with the First National Bank of Chicago, Barclays Bank of Nigeria and Barclays Bank International, United Kingdom. 

He is currently the Managing Director of Financial Derivatives Company Limited and also serves on the Board of the First City Group Ltd., FCMB (UK) Ltd, Top Feeds Nigeria Ltd., Delta Packaging Nigeria Ltd., Seepec Nigeria Ltd., Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Modant Marine Ltd., Virgin Nigeria Airways Ltd, Nigeria LNG Foundation, UBA Custodian Ltd., UNIC Insurance Plc,  Navgas (a Vitol subsidiary) and Guinness Nigeria Plc.
