NEWS RELEASE 14/08/09 - PETERSIDE, SULAIMAN JOIN CADBURY NIGERIA BOARD

 

Confectionery giant, Cadbury Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Mr. Atedo Peterside, OON and Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman, MFR as Non-Executive Directors to support its on-going rebuilding program with effect from August 5, 2009.



Announcing the appointments, Mr. Kufre Ekanem, Corporate Affairs Manager of Cadbury Nigeria said “we are about to embark on the next important phase of our rebuilding program and, after an extensive and thorough search process, we are very pleased that experts of the caliber of Messrs. Peterside and Sulaiman have accepted our invitation to join the Board of Cadbury Nigeria Plc at this time”.



According to Ekanem, “the respective professional track records of Atedo Peterside and Adedotun Sulaiman speak for themselves. Additionally, their commitment to good corporate governance and well known community service records align with the performance driven, values led culture of Cadbury and we look forward to their contributions as we continue our efforts to rebuild Cadbury Nigeria.”

Mr. Atedo Peterside, OON is the Founder and Chairman of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc. Educated at the King’s College, Lagos, The City University, London and the London School of Economics & Political Science, Mr. Peterside is a seasoned banker, an economist and a broad-ranging participant in the Nigerian financial sector. Mr. Peterside was the Chairman of the Committee on Corporate Governance of Public Companies in Nigeria, which crafted a Code of Best Practices for Public Companies operating in Nigeria in 2003. He is a Director on the Board of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, and also sits on the Board of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Presco Plc and Unilever Nigeria Plc. Mr. Peterside was appointed the Honorary Special Adviser on Economic Affairs to the Rivers State Government on 19 November 2007 and was also appointed a member of the Federal Government of Nigeria’s 14-man National Economic Management Team on 28 January 2009.



Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman, MFR, a seasoned Management & Strategy Consultant is the Chairman of Accenture, Nigeria. A graduate of the University of Lagos and the Harvard Business School, Mr. Sulaiman has over 25 years experience in transformational engagements in Strategic Plan Development, Organization Design/Review, Financial and Performance Management, Human Performance Management and Leadership Development, Technology Planning, Process Re-engineering and Business Ethics. He is a past Country Managing Director of Accenture, Nigeria and currently Chairman of several organizations including Cornerstone Insurance Plc, Accenture Nigeria, Interswitch Ltd, Secure ID Nigeria Ltd, Mouka Limited and Nextzon Business Services Ltd. Mr. Sulaiman is currently a member of the Committee set up by the Federal Minister of Finance to Review Nigerian Insurance Laws and Regulations. He was Chairman of a 15-man Committee of experts set up by the Securities and Exchange Commission to review Nigeria's Capital Market Structure and Processes.
