Fidson Healthcare Plc (Fidson), Brewing Giants Nigerian Breweries Plc (NB Plc) and others have clinched their various Sector leadership awards organised by the Financial Standard Newspaper.
On the Healthcare sector, Fidson was nominated alongside GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc (GlaxoSmithKline) and May & Baker Nigeria Plc (M & B) and it won in that category to become the Pharmaceutical Company of the year 2008.
As earlier reported by Proshare NI, Fidelis Ayebae, Managing Director (MD), of Fidson has affirmed that its unique strategy in the Healthcare Sector is that the company has a Research and Development (R&D) Department that continuously do research and development into its products.
“One is to research into the delivery system of the product; to ensure they are as good as they ought to be and we will improve on it every period that these products are in the Market” he affirmed.
Ayebae also asserts that the second is consistency on the quality of the company’s products and the third is availability, “there is no time of the year that one of our products is not available which has made it mere impossible for people to fake the product. Therefore, if you buy a Fidson product, hopefully, it is 100 percent genuine” he said.
The company listed June 04 2008 on the Floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) 1.5 billion Ordinary Shares of 50kobo each at N7.50 kobo per share.
The award was received by the Management Team of Fidson led by Ayebae, MD, Gbenga Olayeye, Operations Director (OD), Biola Adebayo, Sales and Marketing Director among others.
NB Plc on its part has about 60 percent (60%) Market share in Nigeria with Compounded Average Growth Rate (CAGR) of 9.3 percent (9.3%) and the brewing Market is growing on an average of that on a yearly basis.
As earlier reported by Proshare NI in a Q & A session held with Michiel Herkemij, MD/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NB Plc, the company is trying to build long term capability for its people in order to sustain its Market leadership in the country.
Other winners in the their various categories include Lafarge Wapco Plc (Wapco) CAP Plc, Red Star Express Plc (Redstar) FTN Cocoa Processors Plc (FTN) and Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (Nahco).
