Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole has praised members of the Board of Afribank for their strength of character and confidence they have been able to attract adding that he would not bat an eye lid to bank with Afribank.
Speaking in his office to members of the Board of Afribank led by its Chairman, Mr Osa Osunde, Comrade Oshiomole said that the “key issue in banking is trust. Confidence is enhanced if you know the people behind an institution and can vouch for their character. I have confidence in Afribank’s Board”. He stated that Edo State Government was optimistic of building a strong partnership with Afribank to execute its development projects.
The Chairman of Afribank Nigeria Plc Mr. Osa Osunde, assured that the Bank would make available its full financial services to aid the development programmes of the Edo Sate Government. He said that “we will assist you to deliver the expectations of the people”. The hopes of the Edo people are high and Afribank “will assist the Government to actualize its programmes”. Afribank is “focused on assisting government institutions with strategic initiatives to help future generations”.
The Group Managing Director/CEO of Afribank, Mr. Sebastian Adigwe, stated that the bank would partner the Edo Government on youth development and empowerment, infrastructure development, education, raising of capital for projects and financial advisory services. Afribank would expand its operations to more locations in Edo State from eight branches to twelve. According to him, Afribank would offer top notch services to the State and will also invest on initiatives that would impact on the people of Edo State .
Mr.Adigwe told the Governor that a few years ago, the Board of the Bank initiated five-year development plan that has re-invented the Bank’s operations holistically.The success of the strategic initiatives manifested in the Bank’s competitive capital base, rapid business expansion, capacity building, re-engineering of processes and improved information technology among others.
“At Afribank, we have stepped up efforts to support good initiatives both from the private and public sectors through strategic partnerships. We are determined to support. We have the capacity, technical know-how and resources”, he stressed.
He assured that Afribank would continue to place at its resources at the disposal of Edo State in the areas of funds generation and management among others.
Other members of the Board that visited the Governor were: Engr. Ashim Oyekan, Mr Adeiza Adaba(Directors), Mr. Isa Zailani (Executive Director Strategy & Risk Management, and Mr Jibrin Isah, (Executive Director- Institutional Banking)
