Diamond Bank appoints new directors


Diamond Bank Plc has appointed two new directors, Mr. Simon Harford and Dr. Nkosana Moyo into its board. The bank said in a statement on Thursday that their appointment had been confirmed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.


The bank said the two new directors were bringing into the board their broad international experience, particularly within Africa, which would allow them to make significant contributions to the organisation.


According to the statement, Harford, a British national is the Head, West Africa Region of Actis- a leading private equity investor in emerging markets.


With a distinguished international career, Harford was previously the founder and CEO of Virgin Nigeria, which was created and launched in a record nine months with an initial $50m private equity investment.


Moyo, a Zimbabwean national, boasts of more than 12 years experience in the financial services sector, half of which was spent with Standard Chartered Bank.


He is also the brain behind Venture Capital Company and Batanai Capital Financeholds.


Harford and Moyo joined the board of Diamond Bank Plc following Actis Capital LLPs strategic investment of $134m in the bank recently.


The partnership will also facilitate the bank accessing long-term debt funding and Tier 2 capital, by leveraging on Actis international alliances and joint ventures.


In addition, Actis will assist the bank in maintaining very high standards of corporate governance in line
