Dangote Cement enhances capacity, Puts in Plant Lines 3 & 4 at Obajana

President Goodluck Jonathan this afternoon commissioned the Dangote Cement Obajana Plant lines 3 and 4. In his speech to the rich audience that witnessed this epoch statement of the country’s industrial potential, the president stated that he believes that the Dangote Cement plant in Obajana will contribute to the backward-integration based increase in the nations cement production and exportation.
 
President Jonathan equally commended the partnership between the Cement Technology Institute and Dangote Industries Limited (DIL); and expressed confidence in the Private Partnership objectives guiding it.
 
Based on the examples set by the Dangote Group, the president noted that the Federal Government’s plans to launch similar backward integration policies in the textile and garment industry, rice and sugar sectors of the economy.
 
In the mean time, President of the Dangote Industries Limited, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has noted that the line 3 of the Cement plant today commissioned will generate 30,000 metric tonnes of cement per day and 5.2million metric tonnes of cement per annum (mtpa). The ground breaking of line 4 will by 2014 give rise to 13.25 million mtpa from the Obajana Plant.
 
Dangote Plc is recommending the use of concrete in the construction and rehabilitation of roads as part of measures to increase the life span of Nigerian highways for better transportation.
 
Special Adviser to the Dangote Industries President, Engineer Joe Makoju described the affordability of concrete-based roads as 30% more affordable and durable when compared to the asphalt-based types.
 
Meanwhile, the host of the commissioning ceremony, Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada has seized the opportunity to call for private investments in the state. Governor Wada challenged Alhaji Aliko Dangote to consider investing in Coal Mining factory in Kogi State .
