A new Editorial Board has been inaugurated by Business Hallmark Newspaper, with former Vice President of the Nigerian Academy of Science, Professor Anya Oko Anya, Chairman, Centre for Policy and Economic Research (CEPER), Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, renowned economists, Dr. Godwin Owoh and Dr. Charles Mekwunye, as well as former Managing Director of the defunct ACB International Plc, Emma Nwosu, as members.
Chaired by Prof. Herbert Wilson, CEO, Grant Alsthomand, other members of the board include foremost academician, former Managing Director of Liberty Bank, Mr. Lawson Omokhodion; Managing Director, Proshare, Mr. Femi Awoyemi; Professor of Accounting & Financial Management, Mr. Teslim Shitta-Bey, and development economist, Dr. Uma Eleazu.
The Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Business Hallmark Newspaper, Prince Emeka Obasi while announcing the composition of the board, explained that the choice of the members was based on their rich intellectual accomplishments and refreshing progressive views on socio-economic issues.
“Their membership of the Board will enrich and at the same time give the paper a broader perspective in reporting, analysing and interpreting economic issues and public policies,” he said.
He also disclosed that the duo of Professor Anya and Dr. Obidiah Mailafia will from next edition write regular columns on insightful topics in Business Hallmark.
Professor Anya Oko Anya: A Chartered biologist, Fellow and past Vice President of the Nigerian Academy of Science, Fellow of the Institute of Biology of the United Kingdom, Fellow of the Linnaean Society of London, Fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society and Former president, Union of African Biologists was educated at "Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar; University College, Ibadan; and the University of Cambridge (St. John's College), Eng1and, where he obtained the Doctor of Philosophy degree, working at the World famous Mol leno Institute of Biology and Parasitology.
Professor Anya's distinctive contribution is in the field of parapsychology. His research for many years has relentlessly tackled the problems of parasitism and parasitoses in the tropical environment of Nigeria. Through personal and group researches, Professor Anya sought to establish vital benchmarks in parasite biology and control, parasite ecology and Epidemiology and parasite physiology and biochemistry. As a result of his astonishing scientific discoveries, Professor Anya became the only African scientist to be honoured with an invitation to review this field of specialization in the prestigious volume Advances in Parasitology.
Charles D. Mekwunye serves as Legal and Special Assistant to General Olusegun Obasanjo at the Obasanjo Holdings Limited. Mr. Mekwunye worked with International Merchant Bank between 1988 and 1992 before moving over to Zenith Bank Plc. He served Zenith Bank Plc in various capacities as Head of Legal Division and Company Secretary; Head of Administration and Human Resources Division. He has over 21 years post graduate experience out of which he has spent over 17 years in the banking industry. He is also an Alumnus of Oxford University Business School AMP Programme.
Dr. Obadiah Mailafia is a distinguished African economist. Currently he is the Chairman of the Centre for Policy and Economic Research (CEPER), in Abuja, Nigeria. Dr. Mailafia has had a distinguished career in government, academia and international development. He has been a university academic, international banker and a senior government official. He was until recently Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and a Senior Advisor to the President of Nigeria (with rank of Minister of State). He was also for several years an official of the African Development Bank Group.
Godwin Owoh (PhD Economics) Dr Godwin Owoh is the Executive Director/Chairman of Society for Analytical Economics, Nigeria. He is also Executive Chairman of Union Consulting International, an international training, consulting and macroeconomic research outfit with offices in the United Kingdom (UK), Kenya and Nigeria.
Olufemi Awoyemi: Seasoned finance expert, Olufemi Awoyemi is the Chief Executive Officer of Proshare Nigeria, a leading investment management firm and publishers of the Proshare Portal. He is an Economic Analyst/Investment expert of over two decades of practice. Awoyemi, a Chartered Accountant by training is an alumnus of various Institutes of Business management both at home and abroad. He is also serving on the B-oard of various top flight investment management firms, including ACAP partners, Value Fronteria and the editorial board of the CIBN’s ‘The Banker’. Olufemi Awoyemi's Proshare portal apart from being a critical voice that set standards for stake holders in the financial sector of the Nigerian Economy, also serves as a “Confidence parliament” for intending investors in the money and capital market sub-sectors of the economy.
Emma Nwosu: Emmanuel Nwosu, former Managing Director of ACB International Bank Plc, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a Master of Science in Marketing from the University of Lagos, Akoka. Emma Nwosu's experience spans corporate banking, commercial banking, investment banking, branch management, risk management, treasury and financial products, etc. He has attended numerous training and management development programmes, both locally and internationally, in the US, UK and Turkey.
Chief Lawson Omokhodion: Chief Lawson Omokhodion, foremost banker and public commentator is the former Managing Director of the liquidated Liberty Bank.
