The Company has notified The Exchange of the appointments of Messrs. David Coutts-Trotter, Robert P. Becker, David R. Mokholo, John A. Lee, Felix O. Ibru, Jacob O. Makinde and Dr. Alexander A. Thomopulos as Directors on its Board.
Mr. David Coutts-Trotter has degrees in Business and Accountancy and is a Chartered Accountant. He worked with PriceWaterhouseCoopers Inc of South Africa. He was appointed a Director of Sun International Limited in 1996 and became the Deputy Chief Executive of that Company in 2003. He was designated Chief Executive in 2005 and became the Chief Executive in 2006. Coutts-Trotter is a Director in various Companies in the Sun International Group and has over ten years experience in Hotel, Resort and Gaming industries.
Mr. Robert P. Becker, a Chartered Accountant, holds a Masters degree in Business Administration. Before joining the Board of Sun International Limited in 2005, Becker had worked with Nampak and Robertson Holdings where he held the positions of Chief Finance Officer and Group Financial Director respectively. He has extensive experience in Corporate Finance and offshore Financial Management. He is also a director in various Companies in the Group and currently the Chief Finance Officer of Sun International Limited.
Mr. David R. Mokholo has degrees in Commerce and Accounting. He was a founding member of the Auditing and Forensic services firm of Gobodo Incorporated for over seven years, during which he served as the Chief Executive of the Gauten Gambling Board in South Africa. He joined Sun International Limited in 2005 to oversee the Sun Group’s expansion in new casino licenses and other properties outside of South Africa. He has been in charge of Sun’s expansion into Nigeria. He is a Chartered Accountant and currently the New Development Director of Sun International Limited.
Mr. John A. Lee is a Chartered Accountant and has a degree in Commerce. He Joined Sun International Group in 198. In 2001 he was appointed the Chief Information Officer. He joined the Board of Sun International Limited in 2005 and was appointed to the current position of Director of Resorts in 2010.
Senator Felix O. Ibru attended the Nottingham School of Architecture. While at Nottingham he was appointed the first black President of the British Council. He returned to Nigeria in 1963 and lectured at Yaba College of Technology. In 1964 he founded Roye Ibru Associates. He was elected member of the Nigerian Institute of Architect in 1971 and was elected fellow of the Institute in 1995. He became the first Executive Governor of Delta State in 1991 and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2003. He retired from the Senate in 2007.
Mr. Jacob O. Makinde worked in the Accounts Department of Nigeria Hotels Limited before proceeding to England to complete his Accountancy studies. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1977and also obtained Certificate in Education from Gournett College, University of London in 1976. He became a Chief Accountant in Nigeria Hotels in 1984. He joined Ikeja Hotels Limited in 1985 as a Financial Controller and became the Director of Finance and operations in 1998. He was the Chief operating officer in 2000. He is a member of the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
Dr. Alexander A. Thomopulos attended the University of Kansas, United States where he read and obtained a PHD in 1974 in Environmental Health Science. He is a Laurereat and Fellow of the Nigerian Environmental Society. He worked as a Research Scientist with E. I. DuPont de Nemours & Company of North Carolina, USA. He was an Executive Consultant to Sheraton Hotels Lagos and Federal Palace Hotel from 1996 2009. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director Guardian Press Limited, the Parent Company of Guardian Newspaper limited.
