Skye Bank has announced the appointment of Mrs. Morenikeji Onasanyaas the Chairman of the Board of Directors. She replaces Alhaji Musiliu Smith who retired from the Board on September 30, 2010. Alh. Smith retired to take up further challenges in the service of Nigeria.
Mrs. Onasanya, who was the Vice Chairman of the Board, was previously the Chairman of Prudent Bank Plc, one of the five banks that merged to form Skye Bank. She is a Fellow of both ACCA and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). She qualified as a Management Accountant in 1968 and also as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1969, after having attendedWalthamForestTechnicalCollege, now SouthEastLondonUniversity.
Her career positions include Assistant Cost Accountant at Gestetner Ltd. London (1968- 1970), Local Correspondent of the ACCA, Country Representative on the International Assembly, and Accountant at UAC Group, where she held various positions and rose to the position of Head of Finance, and Executive Director in 1992. She retired from UAC Group after a 29-year meritorious service in 2000. She was also a member of the Governing Council of ICAN for nine years; and she received the Institute’s Merit Award in April 2010. She has also served in several other capacities as the President of Bank Directors’ Association of Nigeria (BDAN), and member of the Board of Pera-Beam Ltd and Board of Trustees of Caleb University.
Mrs. Onasanya would be leading a Board constituted by persons of diverse skills and several years of experience in fields such as accountancy, military, law, government, manufacturing, public enterprise, medicine, etc. They include Mrs. Adenike Adeniran (former President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria-ICAN, first female President of International Federation of Women Accountants-IFWA African Region, and President Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa);Gen. Anthony Ukpo (Rtd)- a former Military Governor of a Rivers State and former Federal Minister of Information and Culture; Mr. Kola Awodein (a Senior Advocate of Nigeria- SAN; Mr. Vinay Tuteja(Finance Director of the Stallion Group); and Mr. Victor Odozi (a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria- CBN) and the Independent Director on the Board .
Others include Mr. Victor Adenigbagbe ( Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cooperative Savings and Loans Limited), Mr. Michael Tarfa (General Manager- Nigerian Ports Authority), Dr. Jason Fadeyi ( A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Member of the American Academy of Medicine), Mr. Olatunde Ayeni (Principal Partner of Legal Resources Alliance) and six (6) Executive Directors
