Diamond Bank has entered a strategic partnership with the Enterprise Development Service of the Lagos Business School, the Pan- African University, to support the development of entrepreneurship in the country. The bank is implementing a Business Education Project it tagged “Building Enterprises Today” in partnership with the EDS. Addressing journalists last weekend in Lagos on the project, the bank’s Executive Director, Retail Banking, Uzoma Dozie, said the programme is aimed at encouraging interest in entrepreneurship.
He said: “Application for the programme is open to the general public, in which 50 entrepreneurs from the numerous applicants shall be selected to undergo a robust 30- day intensive Entrepreneurship Management Training, out of which 15 top breed entrepreneurs will be selected for Business Development Support. Five outstanding applicants or entrepreneurs will qualify for the Next Level Award, which is the sum of N3 million each as a capital boost in support of their respective businesses.”
Dozie said EDS will be responsible for the selection process of 50 entrepreneurs that will partake in the three months Capacity Building Programme at the EDS, adding that the 50 participants selected shall enjoy full benefits of EDS Business Network, which includes EDS networking meeting, business advisory and counseling sessions. “From the 50 participants, 15 will be selected as top breed students and they will be further engaged in an Intensive Business Development Support Service for another six months. This set of 15 students shall be provided with a quarterly counseling secessions and other capacity building supports.
“From the 15 business entrepreneurs the University shall further select five outstanding entrepreneurs that will be given the Next Level Award and further provide them with additional three months of support from the University during the transitional period. The bank will reward each of the five outstanding entrepreneurs with N3 million as their growth capital for their businesses,” he added.
