Afribank commended by Diaspora group for foreign services

FRIDAY, 04 JUNE 2010

Nigerian diplomats, businessmen and professionals, under the umbrella of Nigeria in Diaspora Organisation Americas (NIDOA), have commended Afribank Nigeria Plc for its nationalistic and global approach to business.

Converging at its World Conference in Newark, New Jersey, USA, recently to discuss issues on “Financing infrastructure for sustainable development in Nigeria”, President of NIDOA, Mr. Dayo Sanusi, praised Afribank management’s creative approach to providing customised banking services for Nigerians abroad.Group Managing Director of Afribank, Mr. Nebolisa Arah, who was represented by General Manager, Commercial Banking, Mr. Olajuwon Olaleye, explained that Afribank has created outlets to service Nigerians living abroad with a bouquet of products designed for their needs. He added that with the bank’s robust information technology and its e-banking platform, distance is not a barrier for every Nigerian, home and abroad, to access its services.

Arah told participants that Afribank has various electronic products to help professionals living in the Diaspora to remain connected to their family, friends and businesses in Nigeria. Some of the e-banking products introduced to NDOA members include: Afribank Pre-Paid Visa Cards, (Afribank Diaspora Card). The core value proposition of the product is its usefulness as a cross-border electronic wallet particularly for people that run commercial activities between the U.S. and Nigeria. Many people present at the conference were delighted about the product and expressed interest to start using the cards.

Other electronic based products running on various e-Payment platforms are National e-Payment Systems in Nigeria, e-Immigration, Automated Petrol Payment, Savings and Investments Schemes for Nigerians in Diaspora, among others.“Afribank is the bank to trust to guide you in every step of the way for a safe landing back in your fatherland,’’ Arah assured.Other special products Afribank designed for the needs of Nigerian abroad are: Customers in Diaspora (CID) Accounts, Investment and CID loans.
