UBA's services tickle Cote d' Ivoire customers

May 10, 2010

Barley two years after it started full banking operations in Cote d'Ivoire, United Bank for Africa (Cote d' Ivoire) Limited has been ranked third among leading banks in West African countries, according to a survey conducted among the 20 existing banks. Societe General CI and Ecobank clinched the first and second positions respectively.

The survey published by PME Magazine's banking edition, Côte d'Ivoire's top and key economic publication sampled respondents (bank customers) using criteria such as, account opening, account maintenance fees, credit facility, quality of service and e-banking services among others. UBA was adjudged third preferred banking brand among other banks established before it including other Nigerian banks currently operating in the country.Commenting on the development, Mr. Rasheed Olaoluwa, chief executive officer, UBA Africa expressed satisfaction with the impact the bank was making in Cote d' Ivoire and expressed optimism that the bank would emerge first in subsequent survey owing to its strong fundamentals and professional work force.

Olaoluwa who was enthusiastic about the bank's bid to ensure sustainable growth and development of the Ivorian economy also said that the UBA brand was gaining momentum in Cote D' Ivoire, attributing it to the positive public disposition to the bank's business development and customer service initiatives. He assured that his team was ready to surmount the challenges posed in doing business in the country and ensure that it sustained and accelerated the tempo even as it hoped to become tops among banks operating in the country.

United Bank for Africa Plc is one of Africa's leading financial institutions offering universal banking to more than 7.5 million customer accounts. UBA currently operates in 16 countries, namely: Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Chad, Benin, Guinea, Kenya and Gabon together with presence in New York, London and Paris.
